Welcome to Norðurþing, the municipality of the area. It is a place that covers a large area, with beautiful seaside, valleys and mountains as well. It is a place where one can build a good life with a relaxed tempo and security
In our experience it is never easy to move to a new place with a new culture and new language. Even if this is a safe and beautiful place you will face some difficulties. There are many advices given to people when they move, such as: Be patient, contribute in small ways, volunteer, look for local events, join a class, join a club/group, organize your own event, know your neighbors, smile and say hello, prepare for the charm to wear off, keep an open mind, make new friends, get involved in local activities, keep in touch with friends and family at home, take care of yourself, explore the local culture, stay humble, learn the local language, get familiar with the most common phrases and their meaning, have a good sense of humor, accept that you might feel homesick, create a home, a familiar and comforting space, get out and explore, set some goals.
