Ingibj\u00f6rg Benediktsd\u00f3ttir from \u00deekkingarneti\u00f0 and Sigr\u00fan Bj\u00f6rg A\u00f0algeirsd\u00f3ttir, intercultural officer for Nor\u00f0ur\u00feing, attended a course together organised by the Intercultural Centre, which was held in Reykjav\u00edk on 2-3 September. The Centre for Multiculturalism's role is to facilitate communication between people of different backgrounds and to enhance services for immigrants residing in Iceland. In the 2018-2024 Regional Development Plan, there is action A.13, which is a project called Local services for immigrants<\/em> and the implementers of that plan are the Multicultural Centre and the Centre for Continuing Education, which states that it shall provide education and training to strengthen the staff of the state and local authorities to offer specialist assistance and support in matters concerning immigrants.<\/p>\n

The course that Ingibj\u00f6rg and Sigr\u00fan attended is called Diversity enriches the dialogue on good service in a diverse society. <\/em>They received training and practice in teaching such a course.. <\/em>The plan is to teach this course next winter at Thekkningarneti\u00f0, and the two sisters will be in charge of the teaching.<\/p>\n
