The Hra\u00f0i\u00f0 Innovation Centre hosted the event in collaboration with SSNE and the University of Akureyri. Its aim was to boost the innovation scene in North Iceland and contribute to the development of industries in the region. Companies and organisations in the area presented real-world challenges for which participants worked on solutions. Nor\u00f0ur\u00feing, PCC Bakki Silicon, H\u00fasav\u00edk Tourist Office and the Hra\u00f0i\u00f0 Innovation Centre put forward challenges that included utilising the region&#x27;s waste heat in tourism, making H\u00fasav\u00edk an attractive tourist destination all year round, creating a landmark for the town, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hac.margmidlun.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/Siggi-Palli-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17611\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants received instruction and training in innovation thinking, assistance with forming teams, developing ideas and encouragement to take initiative. They worked in teams, using inspiration and data to develop ideas for new solutions. In total, fifteen teams presented their ideas to a judging panel, the culmination of the Krubbs journey and the beginning of their journey to becoming a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The winners of the competition were Eva Bj\u00f6rk K\u00e1rad\u00f3ttir and Kamil D\u0105browski with the idea.&nbsp;<b>Aurora trail<\/b>. It is all about experience and outdoor activities at the darkest time of the year, where the region&#x27;s outdoor gems are opened to the public with special lighting that resembles the Northern Lights. They were awarded an annual membership to Hra\u00f0inn, along with splendid gift vouchers for accommodation and activities in H\u00fasav\u00edk and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other ideas that received awards were&nbsp;<b>H\u00fasav\u00edk Design Standard<\/b>&nbsp;which Sigurborg \u00d3sk Haraldsd\u00f3ttir and Bj\u00f6rn H\u00e1kon Sveinsson developed and presented, their proposal centred on the holistic design and planning of the site with a special emphasis on its character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hac.margmidlun.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/Krubbur-honnunarstadall-140x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17612\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robert&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Bjarnason, Agnieszka Szczodrowska and Arna \u00de\u00f3rarinsd\u00f3ttir received an award for the idea. <\/span><b style=\"font-style: inherit;\">Viking hut<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">. They developed the idea of a special cove.<\/span>A leisure centre in the harbour area of H\u00fasav\u00edk, which also serves as an educational centre and an entertainment venue for tourists, students and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Baldur Kristinsson and Sigur\u00f0ur P\u00e1ll Tryggvason received an award for their idea.&nbsp;<b>Gold bath<\/b>, but that idea is about a special experience on a floating platform on the Golden Fish Pond. At <span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The pram offers a steam bath and hot tubs while guests float around the pond with the goldfish.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hac.margmidlun.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/krubbur-askur-169x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17613\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To conclude<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Gunnar Vilhj\u00e1lmsson and \u00deorgeir K. Bl\u00f6ndal received an award for their idea.&nbsp;<\/span><b style=\"font-style: inherit;\">Ash<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">. Their concept is based on creating a glass dome that utilises waste heat from the PCC. The idea for the dome was to create a year-round Mediterranean climate where plants will be grown and various services, such as restaurants, relaxation facilities, etc., will be offered.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Krubbur draws its name from the well-known&nbsp;<i>Crubbsve\u00f0ri<\/i>&nbsp;in H\u00fasav\u00edk, a storm that kept people indoors.
