Every year, H\u00fasav\u00edk Academic Centre hires university students for summer jobs. The projects are varied, and emphasis is placed on finding tasks that are related to their studies and provide them with experience in that field. This summer, we were joined by A\u00f0albj\u00f6rn J\u00f3hannsson and El\u00edn Anna \u00d3lad\u00f3ttir. A\u00f0albj\u00f6rn is studying social sciences at the University of Akureyri, while El\u00edn is studying architecture at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.<\/p>\n
A\u00f0albj\u00f6rn has been working on an extensive interview study among immigrants in Nor\u00f0ur\u00feing, with a grant from the Development Fund for Immigration Affairs. The aim of the study is to shed light on immigrants' experiences of life in the municipality, what is going well and what challenges they face. The project is being carried out in close collaboration with Nor\u00f0ur\u00feing and SSNE, and it is hoped that the findings will contribute to improvements in services and enhance community awareness in the area.<\/p>\n
El\u00edn Anna has been concentrating on the preparations for Design Conference, which will be held in H\u00fasav\u00edk on 26\u201327 September. This year's festival is about food and its diverse manifestations in design and innovation. El\u00edn has been involved in the programme, publicity, and other important aspects of the preparations. She has also taken part in the research with A\u00f0albirni.<\/p>\n
