This academic year marks a number of milestones, providing an opportunity to hold a discussion on education in the \u00deingeyjar Region. \u00a0It has been 10 years since the establishment of the North-East Knowledge Centre, and also 15 years since the establishment of the North-East Education Centre, which together laid the foundation for the North-East Knowledge Network. \u00a0It has also been about 35 years since construction began on the school building at K\u00f3pasker, a project whose building and the work carried out there was, in many respects, a remarkable contribution to the development of education in Iceland.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hac.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/illugi_gunnarsson-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1837 alignright\" alt=\"illugi_gunnarsson-5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hac.is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/illugi_gunnarsson-5-199x300.jpg\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Education and Culture, Illugi Gunnarsson, will attend the event and address the gathering. Professor Ingvar Sigurgeirsson and Associate Professor Trausti \u00deorsteinsson will then give talks.
