Here at The Knowledge Network, we offer a variety of summer jobs for university students, whether they are in their early years of study or nearing graduation. Our aim is to create opportunities for students to gain work experience, develop their skills, and tackle real-world projects that will benefit them both in their studies and their future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects are varied, but the approach is to utilise each individual's talents by selecting projects to tackle. This gives students the opportunity to work on tasks related to their interests and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This summer, we have two university students working with us, and below is a little about them and their projects for the summer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunna Rae<\/strong> is studying early childhood education at the University of Akureyri. She first moved to H\u00fasav\u00edk about eleven years ago, but has lived in many places, including for a large part of her life in Akureyri and New Zealand, as well as spending some time in England. Before starting her university studies, she worked in a nursery and came to H\u00fasav\u00edk Academic Centre for a skills assessment, and subsequently completed the Early Years and Support Assistant course. Her experience working with children and her studies with \u00deekkingarneti\u00f0 sparked a greater interest in the profession, which prompted her to pursue further studies in early childhood education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's a fun fact<\/a> that Sunna received an award from the Centre for Continuing Education last autumn for her exceptional diligence and ambition in her studies. It was particularly noted that she had been a good example to others in utilising opportunities for learning and development through the means of further education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At H\u00fasav\u00edk Academic Centre, Sunna has worked on translations and presentations, and has taken part in the development of new course material for the Icelandic course. Together in the matter<\/a><\/em>, which will be taught in the autumn. She immediately realises how much she is learning that will be useful to her in the future and how she can use her interest in conceptual work and creativity in her projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mind<\/strong> He attended Laugar Upper Secondary School and is now studying Industrial and Energy Technology at HR. The course places a strong emphasis on practical work, and students have access to a wide range of facilities and equipment to support project work and the application of knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born and raised in Reykjav\u00edk but later moved to Kinnin in \u00deingeyjarsveit. While he was in secondary school, he worked for three summers on a farm in Kinnin. It was a very informative and rewarding experience which he says taught him responsibility, diligence and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While he was in secondary school, he developed a great interest in computers, electronics and technology in general. Since then, he has been keen to deepen his knowledge in these fields and to better understand how technology works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He therefore says that it is a very enjoyable and educational opportunity to get to work in  The Fab Lab in H\u00fasav\u00edk<\/a>, where he can work with tools and methods directly related to his course of study. The work gives him the opportunity to enhance both his knowledge and practical skills, familiarise himself with new solutions and gain experience that will be of great use in both his further studies and his future career. Furthermore, he says the work provides him with insight into how technical knowledge is applied in real-world projects and day-to-day work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage those interested in summer jobs for 2027 to discuss the matter with their university lecturers and with Hildur at H\u00fasav\u00edk Academic Centre. There are various opportunities within the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
