Erna Héðinsdóttir was in Tórshavn at the weekend for a three-day course in Olympic weightlifting, but Erna holds Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications from the International Weightlifting Federation, and is also an international judge in the sport. She has herself been weightlifting for many years, becoming the Icelandic Open Class Champion in 2014, competing at the 2018 Masters World Championship, and currently holds three Icelandic Masters records. In Olympic weightlifting, competition is in the snatch and the clean and jerk; but these lifts require technique, agility, strength and flexibility. Attendance exceeded expectations, and it was necessary to split into two groups as 17 people attended the course.
