  • Development and knowledge: A new approach to the support system of settlements . This report examines the organization and activities of knowledge institutions in rural areas in our neighboring countries, as well as their development in the wake of the fourth industrial revolution. The status of knowledge communities in rural areas in Iceland is also compared with the results and attempts to assess the country's potential for development in this regard. Finally, a real-life example of a knowledge community "House of Knowledge and Business in Húsavík", which is based on the above work, is implemented and presented.   • Stories from the Village . A source podcast with interviews with older people in the Mývatn region about life in the village in the past. Among the topics discussed in the episodes is daily life by the lake and how it changed with the seasons. Also the Krafla fires, the Laxár dispute, the transformation of the village from a small town to a popular tourist destination, the development of the economy and much more. From the interviews, Margrét created four podcast episodes under the title Stories from the Village. They are available on Spotify and Podbean.
  • Revolutions and Regional Development: The role of knowledge centers in the regional development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The project Revolutions and Regional Development received a grant from the Regional Research Fund in May 2020 to analyze the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the country's regions and possible ways to utilize the infrastructure of knowledge centers to meet the challenges and opportunities of the revolution. The project is a collaboration between the Þingeyingi Knowledge Network and the Nýheimar Knowledge Center. December 2021.
