The Network for Knowledge of the Thingeying has implemented a quality certification system in its continuing education work, which is called EQM. EQM stands for European Quality Mark or the European Quality Mark, is a transparent assessment process for education providers to evaluate their practices against recognised quality standards. EQM is based on a self-assessment which is reviewed by an EQM-accredited assessor, who also provides recommendations on quality issues and improvements during the assessment process. The Centre for the Development of the Working Life manages the EQM quality system.
Þekkingarnet Þingeyinga was formally recognised by the Minister of Education as the first educational provider in Iceland on 19 September 2012. The institution had previously formally implemented the EQM quality system and received quality certification based on an audit. See the Ministry of Education and Culture's news story here.
The Knowledge Network was re-accredited in 2023 based on its updated quality system, i.e. EQM+.
