The Network of Knowledge of Þingeyingar, together with seven partners from six European countries, met on ZOOM for the kick-off meeting of a new Erasmus+ project, colloquially called SPECIAL, which stands for Supporting and Promotion of EntreComp through Innovative Advanced Learning.
SPECIAL is funded by Erasmus+, the European Union's programme for cooperation, and is a partnership project in the field of vocational education and training.
SPECIAL aims to strengthen the life skills and 'soft skills' of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). The aim is to support them in participating in society and the labour market, and the project is particularly relevant now due to the impact that Covid-19 has had on society.
In SPECIAL, the partners will develop and pilot training programmes, with the aim of them being flexible and tailored to the needs of the target group.
At this first meeting, the partners had the opportunity to get to know each other and discuss the project ahead. The main focus was on discussing the development and design of the online platform that will host all the project's content. The groundwork was then laid for another work package: a transnational needs analysis, in which the partners will map the needs of the target group, NEETs, post-C19 pandemic, based on EntreComp and LifeComp, which are competence frameworks for entrepreneurial competence and life competence, respectively.
The kick-off meeting also provided an opportunity for the partners to agree on the project's logo and web domain, which are the first steps towards increasing the project's visibility.
The Network of Knowledge of Þingeyjar is managing this project, and the idea stems from the work involved in opening the FabLab Húsavík and the opportunities it creates.
