An agreement has been made between The Knowledge Network and State Education, with the participation of Framsýn. The project is being carried out at several continuing education centres across the country as an initiative to improve the provision of study and career guidance within state institutions in the countryside.
This agreement is made pursuant to a protocol in the collective bargaining agreement between the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, on behalf of the State Treasury, and the Icelandic Federation of Trade Unions (SGS), dated 1 April 2019. The State Education, Development and Lifelong Learning Fund was tasked with the implementation and funding of the project, which is formally being launched through contracts with adult education centres. According to the protocol, the contracting parties agree that an initiative must be launched to encourage education and career development among members of Framsýn and other trade unions within the Icelandic Federation of Trade Unions who work for state institutions. The Knowledge Network is responsible for the implementation of the agreement within its area of operation and is now offering advice specifically for this group of staff at state institutions.
The Knowledge Network and the trade unions collaborate extensively, and their members benefit from a wide range of services that have been established through this cooperation and joint initiatives. Framsýn stéttarfélag is the largest trade union in the Knowledge Network's area of operation, and great emphasis is placed on cooperation in educational matters to enhance services for its members.
