The Knowledge Network of Thingeyingar has been granted Erasmus+ accreditation in Education and Training, for which legal entities and institutions providing adult education can apply. These are grants for professional training through study visits, on the job, job shadowing, or to participate in study and training trips. Erasmus+ is the EU's grant programme for education, youth and sport.
Erasmus+ provides adult education institutions with the opportunity to apply for grants to send staff to adult education partners in one of the programme's participating countries. There, they can teach, receive professional training or acquire further knowledge in the field of adult education, for example by participating in professional courses or through job shadowing and on-the-job observation with adult education providers.
Recently, Lilja, Ingibjörg and Arnþrúður went on a 5-day course to Cyprus about teamwork and team management. The course was organised by Shipcon, a Hub of Research and Educational Training that specialises in courses for Erasmus+. The course covered all the key aspects of successful teamwork, which is extremely useful for the organisation, as the work of ÞÞ is largely based on the teams' collaborative efforts. Presentations for other staff are planned, where the course material will be shared with the aim of improving internal processes and strengthening the Knowledge Network's teamwork.
Hilmar Valur attended a course in Prague, ICT in Education, or the use of information and communication technology in teaching, which is tailored for teachers and staff of educational institutions. The course was organised by the International Training Center. During the course, various technological innovations in learning were introduced to the participants, and practical projects were created and tested with the group. However, there were several aspects of the course that will be useful to the Knowledge Network in the planning and delivery of FA courses and study programmes, especially in the more remote areas of its operational area.
