Meet us at home – in Þingeyjarsveit

An informative and pleasant event at Skjólbrekka

On the 13th of November, an event was held at Skjólbrekka at 6 p.m. Around 30 people gathered to listen, share stories and life experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Soup with freshly baked bread was served, so no one went home hungry.

The speakers at the event were Matteo Gervasi, Carmen Ramos Björnsson, Bergþóra Kristjánsdóttir, Auður Aðalsteinsdóttir and Bianca Peregger. They discussed various topics, for example, their dream jobs, hobbies, what brought them here, the history of the area, and the beauty in the little things, their craft and art, their family history, food traditions, beliefs, the past, their work, coincidences and decisions…. The topics were varied and the evening demonstrated the importance of sharing one's story with others.

After the talks, good discussions broke out at the tables. Many of the guests had not met before, despite having lived in the municipality for some time. The event gave people a welcome opportunity to get to know each other better, have a chat, and strengthen the bonds between residents. Overall, the event was a success, and there are plans to hold more such events in the future.

The event was part of the Cultural Exchange project, which was supported by the SSNE Development Fund.
