Húsavík Academic Centre chaired an electronic kick-off meeting in NICHE 2 – Nurturing Intangible Cultural Heritage for Entrepreneurship, which is a new Erasmus+ partnership project in the field of vocational education and training 18 November 2024
This new project builds on NICHE (2020-2022), which aimed to promote entrepreneurship in the field of intangible cultural heritage. The project was recognised as a 'best practice' and achieved wide dissemination, with 143,150 unique visits to the project website (nicheproject.eu) and 5,200 people receiving online training.
Objective Niche 2 to develop and provide training for individuals who utilise intangible cultural heritage in their work to promote the sustainable growth of this activity. The project's aim is to enhance professionalism by supporting the skills defined in the European Competence Framework for Sustainability, as well as digital skills.
In NICHE 2 there are 7 partners from 6 countries: Croatia, France, Iceland, Italy, Belgium and Spain.
The general objectives of the project are to:
- Promote the competitiveness and growth of activities that utilise intangible cultural heritage by developing a professional competency framework that includes environmental and green skills.
- To enhance the competence of professionals and entrepreneurs working with intangible cultural heritage through the development of courses on green and sustainability knowledge, competence and skills based on the GreenComp framework.
The target groups are:
- Professionals who work with intangible cultural heritage, either temporarily or permanently.
- Staff and organisations that work with cultural heritage in their activities
- Individuals who can utilise intangible cultural heritage to develop their own business ideas and entrepreneurial activities.
- Professionals in the field of intangible cultural activities working for organisations or institutions, e.g. regional organisations
- Vocational education professionals and vocational education institutions (which offer formal and informal education)
At the online meeting, the partners had the opportunity to introduce themselves, and the first part of the meeting consisted of short presentations on the organisations that will be working together on the development of NICHE 2. The partners discussed the detailed implementation of the project plan and precisely defined the roles and responsibilities for carrying out all project activities. After reviewing all the main objectives and the ways to achieve them, the project's logo was chosen, and a web address for the project's website, which will be published shortly.
