A wide range of educational opportunities at LOFTUM School

At LOFTUM school, an online school for climate and environmental issues, municipal employees and elected representatives in North East Iceland have free access to a wide range of education in this field.

The e-school is part of the LOFTUM climate and environment project, which is one of the focus projects of the North East Iceland Regional Development Strategy and is managed by SÍMEY and the Thingeyrar Knowledge Network.

As part of the LOFTUM project, various courses have been held which are in one way or another connected to climate and environmental issues, as well as workshops and lectures.

Last autumn, the LOFTUM school was launched, where the guiding principle is the simple and accessible dissemination of information and education on various topics within this field. The aim is for elected representatives and council staff, whether they work in schools, on planning, utilities or other areas, to be able to access useful information quickly and easily at a time that suits them.

Examples of education at the LOFTUM school are Green steps, The Green Flag, Transport-oriented planning, Materials in children's environments and much more. In the near future, the school will be adding education on municipal climate accounting and waste management.
