Hildur Halldórsdóttir has been appointed director of the Þingeyinga Knowledge Network and will take up the post in April. She joins with extensive experience in innovation, culture and the creative industries, services, research and education.

Hildur is educated in psychology and pedagogy from the University of Iceland. She has worked for over a decade in fields spanning concept development, project management, marketing, consultancy and strategy. These include roles at the information design studio Kolofon and at Omnom chocolate, where she held various management positions. For the past four years, she has lived in Húsavík and worked as a project manager in the fields of culture, innovation and employment counselling for the Association of Municipalities and Industrial Development of East Iceland. There, she has also been responsible for the communication and promotion of the Association's activities.

She has shown in her work that she is capable of putting new ideas into practice, is able to inspire, guide and engage creative thinking, and find a way to enhance it. In recent years, Hildur has been involved in a wide range of development projects, served as a consultant for entrepreneurs and businesses, and sat on committees and grant-awarding boards. managed conferences and events such as Design Forum and the Krubb idea accelerator, and taken an active part in collaboration between municipalities, regional organisations and the Icelandic Development Fund to strengthen communities. She succeeds Óli Halldórsson, who has led the organisation since its inception in 2003.
