The autumn meeting of Símenntun – the association of adult education centres in Iceland – took place in the Westman Islands on 19 and 20 September. Húsavík Academic Centre sent three representatives to the event: Ingibjörg, Heiðrún and Hilmar.
The topics of the meeting were varied and interesting. The advertising agency Sahara gave a very interesting presentation on digital media: development and optimisation in the modern advertising world. Many very interesting points were made, which we at Þekkingarnetið intend to adopt.
Hildur Bettý and Fjóla María, from the Centre for the Development of the Working Life (FA), Hildur Bettý and Fjóla María, from the Centre for the Further Education of the Working Life (FA), went over the main findings of the project 'Voices of people with an international background – inclusion in education, work and society', which is managed by FA and the Nordic Network for Adult Learning (NVL) in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Labour Market and the Ministry of Education and Children's Affairs.
On the second day, two workshops were held. The first was about a development project related to the European Language Portfolio, which SÍMEY has worked on in collaboration with Studieskolen, Mími and Austurbrú. The other workshop was on marketing, where representatives from MSS shared their experience and described their procedures for marketing.
It was a pleasure to visit the Westman Islands and take part in this good and useful meeting.
Thank you.
