Seminar at Kópaskeri

Kópaskersskóli-myndOn Friday, 2nd May, from 15:00-18:15, Þekkingarnetið will be holding a seminar on education. “"Up, up, unused gifts"”.  The seminar will be held in Kópasker, where the institution is also holding its annual general meeting on the same day. This academic year marks a number of milestones, providing an opportunity to hold a discussion on education in the Þingeyjar Region.  It has been 10 years since the establishment of the North-East Knowledge Centre, and also 15 years since the establishment of the North-East Education Centre, which together laid the foundation for the North-East Knowledge Network.  It has also been about 35 years since construction began on the school building at Kópasker, a project whose building and the work carried out there was, in many respects, a remarkable contribution to the development of education in Iceland. illugi_gunnarsson-5

The Minister of Education and Culture, Illugi Gunnarsson, will attend the event and address the gathering. Professor Ingvar Sigurgeirsson and Associate Professor Trausti Þorsteinsson will then give talks. Last but not least, Pétur Þorsteinsson, an innovator in education and former headmaster of Kópasker Primary School, will also attend and give a talk.

We will be serving refreshments from the Stjarna Women's Association, with musical performances in between, and we hope as many people as possible will come and join us in the celebration.
