This course is only intended for staff of the North-East Regional Health Authority (HSN).
The role of the skin, the wound healing process, the main types of wounds, wound assessment, promoting and inhibiting factors in wound healing, and dressings and their properties are discussed. Practical teaching on dressing layers/wrappings. Emphasis will be placed on introducing where to find reliable guidance on wound management.
Please note that this course will be offered in Siglufjörður and Húsavík after the New Year.
Instructor: Thórgunnur Birgisdóttir, a nurse at the specialist wound clinic at the Akureyri Hospital. Many years' experience from various surgical departments at Landspítalinn, the Akureyri Hospital and Stavanger University Hospital. Diploma in wound care from Høgskolen i sørøst-Norge in 2016 and a Master's degree in Health Sciences from HA in 2025.
