HSN – Self-image and communication

What is your identity – and how does it affect your relationships? This is an interactive lecture where we explore two of the fundamental issues of human life: identity and relationships – and how they are inextricably intertwined.

We examine identity in depth: what it is, whether it is something single and unchanging, where it comes from and what shapes it, what sustains it or changes it – and what effect it has on our lives and well-being. We also look at communication: how we communicate with ourselves and with others, what influences our communication style, and whether we listen to listen and understand – or merely to respond. We explore different communication styles and what they mean in practice.
