The report Mapping and analysis: to link occupations with intangible cultural heritage to the EQF and ESCO is now available online, in English. It is the product of the second work package of the Erasmus+ project NICHE. The report contains an overview of the mapping of the skills of people working in the field of intangible cultural heritage and an analysis of it in terms of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). and the European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations (ESCO).

Partners mapped and analysed activities in the field of intangible cultural heritage, under the guidance of the Hellenic Open University, which led another work package:
- Mapping and analysis of the industrial heritage of intangible cultural heritage:
a). Steps and procedures in activities and projects in the field of intangible cultural heritage
b). From that analysis, a profile of the necessary professional expertise and competence was drawn up, such as the requirements for the knowledge and skills of those who work with intangible cultural heritage; organisation, communication, project management, fundraising, management, drawing up budgets and so on.
c). Specialisation, jobs and employment related to intangible cultural heritage today
- Analyse and classify professional competence in intangible cultural heritage
a). Develop a classification within the profession based on the above.
b). Describe the professional requirements, competence and skills needed to carry out this activity.
- Analysis with regard to ESCO: analyse into which ESCO category this competency falls.
- Relevant EQF level: position professional competence in intangible cultural heritage on the EQF scale, particularly with reference to EQF levels 3 to 5.
The European Commission has proposed several approaches, but there is no common framework, referencing the ESCO system, for the professional competences of those who work with intangible cultural heritage. The results of the second work package (IO2) therefore consist of identifying the most common competences defined in the national reports, which could be useful for the design and development of the subsequent training. Niche is a 24-month Erasmus+ project carried out by a group of nine partners from seven European countries (Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Sweden and Belgium). The aim of NICHE (Nurturing Intangible Cultural Heritage for Entrepreneurship) is to promote entrepreneurship in the field of intangible cultural heritage by developing new training methods for those working in the sector (current and future). The training aims to foster entrepreneurship within the sector, increase its competitiveness and sustain its growth.
