Now that the town is filling up with tourists and service providers are getting ready, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look at the results of a survey of foreign tourists conducted by The Knowledge Network in Húsavík in the summer of 2024. Understanding the expectations and experiences of tourists is important in order to provide an excellent service.
Some interesting points from the survey:
The average length of stay for foreign visitors in Húsavík is 16 hours. Almost half of them are staying overnight. 20% of them said they had been influenced by films and television programmes (to varying degrees) when they chose Húsavík as a destination. Whale watching is still the main attraction, but many also mention the beautiful town, the unique landscape and nature.We encourage tourism operators and others to familiarise themselves with the findings and are ready to chat with anyone who has questions or comments.
