KRAKKAKRUBBUR – A creative ideas workshop for children

On Friday, 20th March, a particularly fun event for children will be held at Hraðinn.

This is a creative workshop for children called KRAKKAKRUBBUR, which is part of the KRUBBI idea accelerator. The workshop is run by concept developers Svava Björk Ólafsdóttir and Ninna Þórarinsdóttir, who will guide the children through a creative and fun process with an emphasis on fostering imagination, curiosity and solution-oriented thinking.

The event is held in collaboration with Borgarhólsskóli and pupils in Year 4 will take part. They will learn how ideas are formed and how creative thinking can be practised. Among the things they will try are:

  • Draw inspiration from the environment
  • Develop and shape ideas
  • Working together on brainstorming
  • Create simple prototypes based on their ideas.

The aim is to show the children that good ideas can come from anywhere and that everyone can be an idea generator.

All participants receive the book 'A Great Idea' as a gift, by Svava Björk, Ninna Margrét and Eva Rún, who are behind the educational project Hugmyndasmiði. The book has received very good reviews and encourages children to turn their ideas into reality. According to Svava, the aim is to give children the skills, tools and belief in their own ability to change the world through innovation. After all, children are brilliant idea-makers and the future is theirs.

Krakkakrubbur is an important addition to the Krubb idea accelerator, where, among other things, the question of how we can make our town a better community for children will be addressed. The results of the children's brainstorming will be presented in the Krubbur and will thus be an important contribution and inspiration for the participants' ongoing brainstorming.
