We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic careers adviser. This is a varied role within a professional team, involving close collaboration with individuals, businesses, and educational institutions in the Knowledge Network's area of operation. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of people and industry in the Knowledge Network's dynamic region.

  • The Knowledge Network is a centre for lifelong learning, research, higher education and innovation in the north-east of the country, within the North-East counties. 
  • Offices are located in the North-Thing district, the Kistur Langanesbyggð district and the Gíg Þingeyjarsveit district. The study and careers adviser provides services throughout the entire area, but their main base is in Húsavík.

Key tasks of the specialist team: 

  • Study and career guidance for individuals and groups 
  • Data registration and management 
  • Assistance for individuals in relation to the strengthening of strengths, and the analysis of interests and goals. 
  • Information provision 
  • Administration and management of competency-based assessment 
  • Management and organisation of study programmes and courses 
  • Advice on career development 
  • Needs analysis and development projects in collaboration with industry 
  • Participation in consultation and collaboration on advisory services in adult education at a national level 
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as the situation requires 

Competency requirements 

  • Qualification as a careers and employment adviser, or other education that strengthens the professional team, e.g. in the field of social work. 
  • Knowledge of the Icelandic education system and labour market 
  • Experience in consultancy, teaching, project management or continuing professional development is an advantage. 
  • Good communication and information-giving skills  
  • Initiative and autonomy in work  
  • Good teamwork skills 
  • Organised and professional working methods 
  • Very good skills in Icelandic and English, both written and spoken. 
  • Good general computer skills and the ability to learn new things.
