Representatives of Hraðinn recently took part in the innovation conference. Tonic which was held in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The conference is a leading innovation event in the Nordic countries and was extremely well attended this time, with over 700 guests, speakers and other participants from far and wide.
Hraðið was part of a strong group from North East Iceland, which brought together representatives from Hraðið, Drift EA and SSNE, along with five impressive start-up teams from the region: Nanna Lín, Grænafl, Unnur Verkbókhald, Quality Console and Sea Thru. All the teams took part in the TONIK pitch competition and performed exceptionally well. They presented their projects with confidence and ambition to international guests, investors and other interested parties.
One of the highlights was a joint event held by Hraðið, Drift EA and SSNE at the conference. There, the entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present their projects in short pitches, which was followed by lively and enjoyable networking. The event was well attended, and the interest in what is happening in the North was clear. Hraðið emphasised the promotion of The Design Parliament and its focus this year. It was great to see how many people had heard of the festival and were keen to come and take part.
The group also visited exciting companies in the Faroe Islands to learn about innovation in established businesses. These included fisheries and other companies with high-tech solutions related to food storage. These visits provided a good insight into how innovation and technology are a driving force in Faroese industry.
What remains most striking, however, is the great vibrancy of innovation and its support systems in North East Iceland. The collaboration between Hraðinn, Drift EA and SSNE has strengthened significantly in recent months, and this is beginning to translate into stronger teams, greater visibility and stronger external connections. The TONIK trip was a fun confirmation that we are on the right track and that what is happening back home is attracting attention.
We came home full of inspiration and new connections. Our area is full of exciting ideas and energy that we look forward to seeing grow and flourish in the coming months.
