What is the course about?
Artificial intelligence is one of the most powerful tools ever available to the public, but many are hesitant to take the first step. In this course, we cover the basics of human language, look at numerous practical examples, and give participants the opportunity to work on their own projects under guidance. The goal is simple: for you to walk away with increased confidence and the tools to continue on your own terms.
During the course you will learn, among other things:
- What artificial intelligence is — explained in "human language"
- Practical examples from work and everyday life: writing, organization, time saving, and problem solving
- Formulating good questions and critically evaluating the answers
- What to watch out for — privacy, trust and responsible use
- Ways to continue learning independently after the course
Agenda
Friday, October 9
- 9 a.m.–12 p.m. — Lecture: How artificial intelligence can be used in a variety of projects and jobs, with examples, questions, and discussions.
- 1–4 p.m. — Workshop I: Participants begin working on their own project — one large one or several smaller ones — and receive assistance in formulating an approach.
Saturday, October 10
- 9–12 — Workshop II: Participants deepen their projects, review what worked well and how best to continue. Summary and next steps.
It is a good idea to come with a laptop and an idea for a project, so that the workshop can be used as effectively as possible. Timings may be subject to minor changes.
Supervisor
The mentor is Hulda Ragnheiður Árnadóttir , CEO of the Icelandic National Disaster Insurance. Hulda has mastered the use of artificial intelligence in her daily work and is passionate about sharing that knowledge. In her words: “I went to university late and have come a long way by believing in my own abilities, and by seizing the tools that are available to me at any given time. Artificial intelligence is the newest tool in my toolbox — and I want to share that experience with those who have yet to take this step.”
