vibrant community

Stéttin

STÉTTIN is a vibrant community of businesses, organisations and individuals in Húsavík, working on innovation, research, development and diverse knowledge-based activities. Here, ideas, theory and practice meet in a creative environment where the aim is to enhance the area's economic and social life.

The operation takes place at Hafnarstétt 1–3, in two historic buildings that have played a major part in the economic development of Húsavík over the years. The buildings have been rebuilt and connected by a new, contemporary structure, creating a cohesive and accessible workspace and service facility.

The premises are owned by Langaness ehf., a family-owned company of Bjarni Aðalgeirsson, which has overseen renovations and bespoke works to meet the needs of the diverse activities at STÉTTINNI.

The STÉTTIN employs around 50 full-time staff, in addition to entrepreneurs, researchers and students on temporary assignments. Research and development projects cover numerous fields, such as: avian ecology and natural history, marine mammal research, demography and community development, education, guidance and adult education.

In addition, there is a fully-equipped FabLab on site, open to entrepreneurs, students, artists and the general public who wish to develop ideas and pursue creativity and technology.

STÉTTIN is, first and foremost, a space where people, businesses and organisations can seek assistance, come up with ideas, get advice or collaborate on new projects. Everyone is welcome here – whether it's for entrepreneurship, research, study, or simply for asking questions and having a conversation.

STÉTTIN in Húsavík is a platform where the past, present and future meet and new solutions are created.
