The pilot teaching for the project – Practical Artificial Intelligence in Daily Tasks – went very well.

In 2025, the Network of Knowledge of Þingeyjar received a grant from the Development Fund for Further Education to develop the curriculum. Practical artificial intelligence in daily tasks. The aim of the project is to write a practical and accessible curriculum that helps people use artificial intelligence in their work and daily lives, and to pilot it with two groups: one in distance learning and the other in face-to-face teaching.

The course consists of 58 teaching hours and is aimed at people in general jobs in the labour market who want to learn how artificial intelligence can simplify tasks, save time and support a variety of jobs. The emphasis is on introducing the main tools, training participants to use them in a practical way, and discussing important aspects such as critical thinking, security, data protection, and the responsible use of technology.

The pilot teaching for the first group has now concluded. That group attended the course via distance learning, and it went extremely well. The participants were very happy with the curriculum and gave it a good rating. The feedback shows that the material is useful in a variety of roles and that many people can immediately see how artificial intelligence can be used to simplify daily tasks.

Over the coming weeks, the curriculum will be refined based on participant feedback before it is piloted with the second group in face-to-face sessions. Once this work is complete, the curriculum will be fully developed and ready for use in training for the adult education target group.

With this news, we are also publishing a short video that a student, Jonas Alexander Lackner, produced as a final project for the course. The project turned out exceptionally well and shows in a fun way what can be done with artificial intelligence. For this, the participant used various AI applications to create the animation, write the script, and voice-over and subtitle the video.
