Yesterday, eight students graduated from a digital workshop run by Þekkingarnetið. The course began in January and was held entirely at the Húsavík Fablab. The main aim of the workshop is to enhance residents' skills in using digital technology and to help bring an idea to fruition. By the end of the digital workshop, the students have acquired basic skills with the various tools and equipment in the Fablab and are encouraged to visit the fablab as often as possible to use those skills and have fun developing things and making.
In the workshop, students received instruction and progressed through three-dimensional drawing, milling, digital embroidery, mould-making, laser cutting, programming, vinyl marking, electronics, and metal cutting.
In the fablab, residents have access to a variety of digital tools and facilities. The aim of the fablab workshops is not only to teach technical skills but also to foster creative thinking, initiative and collaboration. By providing access to digital workshops and training in new technology, the fablab promotes increased creativity in the community and sows the seeds of innovation.
By enhancing the digital skills and technology of people of all ages, we build a stronger society where role models are found in every corner for the younger generation and future skills.
Here are there further details about the next workshop starting in the autumn term
