Development and knowledge: A new approach to the built support system. This report examines the organisation and operations of knowledge institutions in rural areas in our neighbouring countries, as well as their development in the wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The status of knowledge communities in rural areas in Iceland is also compared with the findings, and an attempt is made to assess the country's potential for development in this regard. Finally, a case study of a knowledge community, the 'House of Knowledge and Business in Húsavík', which is based on the aforementioned work, is developed and presented. Happiness and well-being in Mývatn municipality. A resident survey conducted by Þekkingarnetið on three occasions for the Skútustaðahrepp municipality, with the aim of assessing residents' happiness and well-being for the practical decision-making of the Skútustaðahrepp local council, with the guiding principle of increasing residents' happiness and well-being. Stories from the countryside.A documentary podcast featuring interviews with older people in the Mývatn area about life in the region in the past. The episodes cover topics such as daily life by the lake and how it changed with the seasons. Also the Krafla eruptions, the Laxá dispute, the transformation of the area from a sparsely populated place into a popular tourist destination, the development of the local economy, and much more. From the interviews, Margrét produced four podcast episodes entitled 'Stories from the Countryside'. They are available on Spotify and Podbean.
Revolutions and development of settlements: The role of knowledge centres in the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The project 'Revolutions and Rural Development' received a grant from the Rural Development Research Fund in May 2020 to analyse the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the country's rural areas and possible ways to utilise the infrastructure of knowledge centres to meet the challenges and opportunities of the revolution. The project is a collaboration between the Þingeyjar Knowledge Network and Nýheimar Knowledge Centre. December 2021.
